The Set Up: When her groom doesn’t show up to the wedding, Cam’s life is turned upside down. In her search for new housing, she finds that house she’s loved forever is available to rent. The only problem is the neighbor—her high school sweetheart Dusty. Cam is determined to keep him at arms length, but Dusty is doing his best to show her that she can count on him.
This was a sweet and lighthearted romance, just the kind of quick and easy read you would expect if you’ve been through the rest of the series.
I’m so glad we got to know Cam. There were glimpses of her in past books, but it was fun to get learn more about her history and how she came to be a member of the Ryder family. I really enjoyed her story as she picks up the pieces of her life after losing the life she thought she was going to have.
“I love you in ways that people don’t believe exist in real life. I love you for who you’ve been and who you are and who you’re going to be”
I loved the easy chemistry between Dusty and Cam. Because of how they reconnected (Dusty helps her escape from town after her almost-wedding) they skipped the awkward period after being out of touch. I appreciated how they both had grown up and could see where they each made mistakes in the past.
Wild and Wrangled was a really great end to this series. I’m sad that we’re done with these characters at Rebel Blue Ranch, but I’m excited to read more from Lyla Sage in the future—I think she’s doing something with a paranormal twist next, which I am HERE for.
Here are some picks that I would recommend based on Wild and Wrangled! Beach reads, second chance romances, and single parents!
I haven't read this series yet. I have the first one and need to get to it soon.
I love how you described this as a lighthearted but emotionally resonant read, especially Cam picking up the pieces after an almost-wedding (my heart!). That quote about love through all versions of a person is just beautiful.
I mostly dwell in historical romance with a poetic and sometimes wistful tone, but stories like this remind me that heartbreak and healing are timeless. Thanks for the rec, Emily! 💛 I’ll miss the Rebel Blue Ranch too.
